Good news! The engineers/contractors are back for a third attempt at drilling a well, which means we might be getting running water by the time we’re back from our Christmas holidays. If we’re extremely lucky, electricity may follow a few months after that as well! Maybe.
They first turned up a couple of months ago, fussed around for a day or two, then disappeared because apparently their drill broke (which is interesting, as they never started drilling). Weeks passed, then they returned to try again, but had to stop pretty much immediately as there seemed to be some stones in the way (you’d think a team hired to drill a 60m deep well might have anticipated some stones being there). They’re now back for a third shot at it, and I hesitate to say it but they seem to be making progress!
