I wanted to get to Lethem this weekend to buy some stuff and send some emails, so I went through the motions of asking all the usual suspects if they’re driving to Lethem at the weekend, and I got a little more than I bargained for…
turns out there was a spare seat on a plane carrying a medical outreach team back to Lethem! A little chat with the pilot (yeah, that pilot for those who have heard the story) and before I knew it I was squashed into a very small 5-seater plane, chugging along to Lethem – result!
Even more good news was waiting for me in Lethem: King’s College University in London have offered me an unconditional place for when I get back next year! I’ll be studying Computer Science BSc with a year abroad (yep, I’m doing another year in some far-flung corner of the globe – possibly North America or Asia, who knows?).
AND to cap it all off, I visited the post office and they had plenty for me… a birthday card and postcard from Aunt R and the Youff group (thank you guys!!), a long-awaited letter from Jess in China, and a letter from fellow PTV Nick in Malaysia! That means I’ve received my first letter from someone who isn’t family… i.e. a friend! To the rest of you: what are you waiting for? I’ve got a wall covered in photos of my friends, I’d like to put some letters up there too! (Because every card, letter and postcard I receive goes up on my walls.) By now several if you should have letters from me, and I’ll be sending out a ton of postcards just as soon as I find a shop here that actually sells them.
