Generic Update…
Soooo, general sit-rep on the year so far….
Post From Home!
My first bit of post from home arrived today from my awesome Aunt Ruth – thank you Aunt R!!! Judging by the post mark it took 7½ weeks to get here, so the other letters that people assure me are en-route shouldn’t be more than a few more weeks away 😀 Other news – had … Continue reading
Oh the Irony…
A few days I wrote letters home to my family updating them on everything going on, as well as assuring them I was in very good health out here. I also wrote a blog post to the same tune, tantamount to boasting about how healthy I’ve been… So of course, I’ve spent the last 36 … Continue reading
Fundraiser Today
Today is a PTFA fundraising day for the primary and secondary schools… which means music, sports and lots of food (and no school)! UK teachers, take note: this … Continue reading
May Have Saved A Man’s Life…
This morning I spotted a snake beneath our head master’s desk. After catching it with a bucket and a broom, we confirmed that it’s known here as a “double headed snake” (because its tail looks just like its head) and its bite can be fatal… good job I spotted it really!
U Jelly?
I’m writing this as I lie in a hammock, strung up in the shade between two trees, listening to the creek calmly running by. I’ve got a very fresh drink of coconut water (they just chop the top off a fresh coconut and stick a straw in), for once the insects are leaving me alone, … Continue reading
House Guests
I’ve realised I’m becoming remarkably blasé about wildlife in my house… last night I found two lizards in my bathroom, this morning I spotted a decent sized spider watching me from my roof, and there’s a frog who lives in my shower (I call him Kermit). Oddly enough, none of these animals (or their many … Continue reading
