Today is a good day! 😀 My placement letter arrived from Project Trust, so I know now exactly where I’ll be going to in the summer (less than 4 months now). I’ll be working in St Ignatius Secondary School, Lethem, Guyana. It’s the only secondary school in District 9 and has a wide catchment area, so it’s a busy place. Read more
Bag Packing Raised £902.37!
After 8 hours on our feet, 3733 coins collected and nearly 3 hours counting the results, I’m very happy to say that bag packing today at Morrison’s raised a massive £902.37. This has put me up to 90% of the total target – the end is in sight! Read more
May Deadline Met & Car Boot Sale
With my latest donations and events, I’ve smashed my May deadline of £3000 and currently sit on just over £3500. As with my February deadline I’m about a month ahead of schedule, so things are looking very good for having my total £5100 in time for July!
My next fundraiser is a bag packing day at the Morrison’s near me (helpers needed!) on the 21st, followed by a car boot sale on the 29th. Between these two I’m hoping to take my total to beyond £4000. At the car boot sale I’ll be selling mostly items donated by people in my neighbourhood – so far I’ve been given Xbox games and accessories, books, ornaments, jewelery, tools and plenty of other things by some very generous people in my area. If donations for the sale continue at the rate they have been going, I may end up having to run two (which is just more money in my PT fund, so no complaints there!). Read more
Sweet Jar Winner
Congratulations to Mr Brady from THW for having the closest guess (293) to the 296 delicious sweets in the jar (see the post below this one). He has proudly won the jar of sweets itself and a lovely bottle of red wine.
The “Guess How Many Sweets in the Jar?” competition raised me a total of £25.53, after splitting it with fellow PT volunteer Nicole. We both wish everyone who entered a massive thank you!
Guess How Many Sweets?
Wednesday through to Saturday this week sees the long-awaited school and sixth form production of GREASE. As well as helping out on the drinks stand, myself and fellow PT volunteer Nicole will be offering patrons a chance to guess how many sweets are in the jar below.
Town Collection Total
Last Saturday I spent just shy of 8 hours stood on Trinity Street in town collection for my Project Trust fund. It was a bitterly cold day and sadly not as busy as I’d hoped for, but I still raised £60.84 towards my fund. This has just tipped me past 40% of my total and put me on £2047.47 (as of 17th Feb, 2012).
Leg Wax – Total and Photos!
The leg wax was a brilliant success and has so far netted me £155.83 (with about £65 left to collect from sponsors who haven’t paid yet). In the end five “100% willing volunteers” took part: myself, Mr Berridge, Mr Howell, Mr Hanley and Mr Evans.
I’d like to say a massive, massive thank you to everyone who donated, everyone who came along to watch and especially to everyone who joined me on stage to have their legs waxed in the name of charity. Read more

£100 From The Alchemy Foundation
I came home today to my first positive response from a charitable trust… The Alchemy Foundation in Surrey have donated £100 towards my total! With their help I’ve just passed £1700, meaning I am now more than a third of the way there 😀
Buckets Arrived and Looking Good
Two big collection buckets arrived the other day, ready for my public collection in town on February 10th (more info). They’ll also be making an appearance at the leg wax next Friday. Got to say – they’re looking pretty good…
