Fancy seeing me and five school staff members go through a fair bit of pain in the name of charity? Then head over to Ellis House (Woodlands) on Friday 10th February at lunchtime to watch us have our legs waxed in front of a crowd to raise money for Project Trust!

First Cake Sale + News on a Public Collection

Today was my first sixth form cake sale (I say first as I imagine I’ll be doing a few more) and I was very happy to count a total of £40.20 raised – thank you students and staff of WCSF! I’ve learned from this one and will carry a valuable lesson onto the next: more cake!

I also got some good news through the post today from Coventry City Council’s Licensing team… I’ve been given permission to carry out a public collection in the City Centre next month on 11th Feb. Anyone in town that Saturday should head down to Trinity Street (near Sainsbury’s) and chuck your spare change in the bucket… I’ll have stickers!

February Deadline Met!

My first milestone deadline of £1,500 – due by the end of February – has been met! This means I’m now on about 30% of my total and nearly a third of the way to Guyana (which puts me somewhere above the North Atlantic Ocean…).

Upcoming events include bag packing, an event at the Sixth Form Prom (maybe), a costumed collection in town (hopefully), taking on the Three Peaks Challenge (more to follow on that soon) and numerous cake sales.

Passed the £1,000 Mark

Today my total sits on a little over £1,000, having passed the first major milestone and entered four-figure-ness! That means I’m 20% of the way to my total of £5,100 (give or take 0.3%), and that I’m right on track to hit my February deadline of £1,500!

I suppose it’s only fair to thank Ben for giving me the £205 that pushed me past £1,000… even if it was money he owed me anyway 😉

Leaflets Sponsored and Sponsored Row

I got a double-dose of good news today!

First up Print4Links (a part of CardsMadeEasy) agreed this morning to sponsor my first 300 leaflets and provide more when I run out, which is excellent news as it means I can get started on sending letters out to charitable trusts. Hopefully the leaflets will be with me by the start of next week.

The second shot of good fortune came this afternoon with a call to the West Orchards Shopping Centre: they have granted me a provisional date for a sponsored 9-hour row! It’s still pending managment approval (and lots of paperwork), but at least the ball’s rolling now on what could be a very beneficial event.

Watch this space for more news on both.
