TG#33 – Sleep in a Tree AND TG#38 – Walk to a Project

So, a double-whammy on Traveller’s Guide items this weekend, which itself has been pretty eventful.

(Sorry, but there are no photos to go with this post – as you’ll see below I had to travel light, and that meant leaving my camera behind.) Read more »

A Visit to Aishalton

The weekend just passed was a bit of a mini adventure for Harry and I. Monday of this week (the 6th) was a national holiday, so we decided to use our 3-day weekend to visit Aishalton, the southernmost project in Guyana. It was one of the top things on our to-do list for the term, and last weekend was probably one of our last chances now that the rainy season is setting in. Read more »

Rainy Season in Guyana

You may have noticed that I haven’t posted in a long time. This is partly because the start of term has been pretty busy, but mainly it’s because it is now the rainy season in Guyana. It started roughly when I got back to Sand Creek (3 weeks ago) and will still be going when I’ve gone back to England and the next generation of volunteers have arrived to replace me. Read more »

TG#20 – Extreme Ironing (Photo 1)

Ironing my shorts at Kaieteur Falls!

Just by the by… this required me to borrow an ironing board, persuade the airline to carry it, and then carry it around the national park for nearly 2 hours! I won some very odd looks from our companions, but it was worth it!

Where in the World…

I may have posted this before, but for those who are interested, you can see where I’ve been in the world by going to my Wolpy page here: www.wolpy.com/markormesher.

2020 edit: Wolpy is no longer working, so I moved everything to atlas.markormesher.co.uk a few years ago.

There’s a funky map with awesome little red dots on it! I hope to add lots more at the end of the year 😀

Easter Email

Easter is here everyone – chocolate time! Except it’s not, as chocolate is quite expensive in Guyana, and it’s far too hot to enjoy properly 😛

At the end of the Christmas term I sent out a long email about everything that had happened over the last 15 weeks, so I’ve done the same this term. If you’re on my mailing list, you’ll already have seen this. If not… Read more »
